Junior Kindergarten

 

The curriculum follows the Indiana State Guidelines designed to prepare children for senior kindergarten. Reading readiness, phonics, math, and writing readiness programs are individualized to meet the needs of each child. There are creative art, music, crafts, movement, science discovery  and language experiences plus outdoor play time. Computer time and Spanish classes with a Spanish teacher. Low teacher/pupil ratio to enhance the learning climate.

A Day In the Life

8-8:45 Drop Off/Free play

8:45-9:15 Introduce letter and letter sound of week; Rug time Announce special helper; Pledge of Allegiance; Calendar time/Days of school; Weather person

9:15-9:50 Large group time in classroom

     Mon Phonics

    Tues Spanish

    Wed Math

    Thurs Math/Phonics

    Fri Arts and Crafts or   

                Creative Art &

                Show&Tell

9:50-10:10 Snack and Story/ Intro to Centers

10:10-10:40 Centers (small groups and one to one work with teachers)

    ABC's/Phonics/Reading

    Writing

    Math

    Science

10:40-10:45 Cleanup centers, load back packs from mailboxes

 10:45-11 Recess outdoors if weather permits

11-11:15 Gather coats,back packs and walk to preschool for pickup(half day children)

11:15-11:30 All Day children wash hands and get ready for lunch

11:30-12 Lunch

12-12:15 Video time (G rated)
